Introduction

 

Human Rights Park was found in 1992 by prominent Human Rights activists Sushil Pyakurel with the support from team consisting of friends Er.Sunil Pokhrel, Er.Rameshwor Rijal, Bharat Sharma, Er.Shankar Nath Rimal, Er. Pramod Kaphley and Er. Nabin Sharma, initially to immortalize the memory of inexorable HR defender Mr. Prakash Kaphley by constructing a park with his monument and carrying out various activities to promote and protect fundamental rights of children, women, Dalit and marginalized people enabling them through campaign, advocacy, awareness, lobbying etc. Since then though the organization underwent many ups and downs in its internal strength, it however has been able to contribute in the sectors of political, cultural, religious and educational rights of the people. Even during the difficult situation of conflict and autocracy it stood firmly together with other HR Organizations in the favor of peoples’ rights. After April Revolution in 2006(JanaAndolan-II) it has been working with INSEC ٭ as a partner organization and developing its network in many districts equally in Himalayan, Hilly and Terain regions of the country.

In course of time Human Rights Park has gradually widened its areas from constructing park in memory of Prakash Kaphley together with HR research centre to the building of a park in reminiscence of all martyrs who got martyrdom for establishing human rights and social justice in the country plus protection and promotion of child rights and women rights focusing on their education and working against domestic violence and girls trafficking.
